Scholarship Description

The Hubert Humphrey fellowship program was initiated in 1978 to honor the memory and accomplishment of the late senator and vice president of the United States Hubert H. Humphrey.

Level of Study

This fellowship program is a non-degree program. Awarded fellows are placed at one of the participating USA universities, and are not allowed to choose which university they will attend. Rather awarded fellows are assigned in diverse groups of 7-15 to the most appropriate host institution based on their area of interest and professional field.

  • must have completed an equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree. Applicants must either possess a four-year bachelor’s degree or a completed master’s degree; or a full-time postgraduate diploma, if the bachelor’s degree is of less than four years duration.
  • must have at least five years of substantial professional experience in their respective field, and be eligible for leave
  • Must have demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Must have a record of public service in their community.
  • Should have limited or no prior experience in the United States
  • Must have English language proficiency.
