The Rotary Peace Fellowship is a fully funded scholarship for international students who are seeking to gain their masters in a prestigious university.
Scholarship Summary
Each year, Rotary selects up to 90 peace and development leaders from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships to pursue a Professional Development Certificate Program or Master’s Degree Program related to peace and conflict resolution and prevention at one of the participating peace centers around the world. These participating centers include;
- USA
- Japan
- UK
- Australia
- Sweden
- Uganda
Since the onset of this fellowship, Rotary peace centers have trained more than 1,400 fellows who now work in more than 115 countries. This fellowship program covers tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses.
The following institutions accept international students who have been awarded a Rotary Peace fellowship;
Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA: Master of International Development Policy Program (MIDP) or various degrees offered by the University of North Carolina
• International Christian University, Japan: Master’s Degree in Peace Studies
• University of Bradford, England: Advanced Practice in Peace building and Conflict Resolution MA
• University of Queensland, Australia: Master of Peace and Conflict Studies (MPACS)
• Uppsala University, Sweden: Peace and Conflict Studies (MS.Sc.)
• Makerere University, Uganda (certificate program): Post-Graduate Diploma in Peace and Development Studies
Eligibility For The Rotary Peace Fellowship 2023-2024
This fellowship program is designed for professionals who have work experience in international development or peace conflict prevention and resolution.
Intended applicants must meet the following criteria;
- Have three years of related work experience in the master’s program
- Have five years of related work experience for the certificate program and be able to explain how their plan to promote peace aligns with Rotary’s mission (Candidates for Makerere University must either be from Africa, have worked in Africa, or work with African communities or initiatives outside the continent.)
- Be proficient in English (Master’s candidates whose first language is not English must provide English language standardized test scores.)
- Have a bachelor’s degree (Master’s candidates must provide a copy of their transcripts.)
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Have a strong commitment to cross-cultural understanding and peace worked in Africa, or work with African communities or initiatives outside the continent.
How To Apply For The 2023-2024 Rotary Peace Fellowship
Follow the instructions below to apply for this fellowship program;
- Do research on the curriculum and programs at each of the Rotary peace centers, because you will be asked to rank the two centers you prefer.
- Prepare your Application, resume, and CV
- Submit your application online before the required deadline which you will see on the official site.
- Contact your local Rotary district before submitting your application to request an interview.
- Complete an Interview with your district representatives
- Await for the selection result.
